West Ham fans erupt over Coufal news

Flocking to Twitter, many West Ham United fans have erupted over more news involving defender Vladimir Coufal in what has been an eventful week for the 29-year-old.

As first reported by journalist Roshane Thomas of The Athletic, Coufal has put pen to paper on a new deal at the London Stadium and one which will extend his stay by a further three years.

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/west-ham-developments/” title=”West Ham developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

The Czech Republic international was arguably one of West Ham’s standout performers last year, finishing the 2020/2021 Premier League season with 2.1 tackles per 90 on average – the joint-highest number in David Moyes’ squad (WhoScored).

He has been rewarded with his start to life in east London with a bumper new contract, and now more news has emerged on Coufal in what could be a boost for West Ham over the international break.

As relayed by football.london, the ace has decided to withdraw from his national side’s upcoming World Cup Qualifiers – prioritising recovery given he has been struggling with a recent groin problem.

Coufal will now gain some rest over the next fortnight with the hope of returning for West Ham on October 17 fit and firing ahead a congested schedule.

Upon hearing that he won’t link up with the Czech Republic after all, many Irons supporters are thrilled and believe it will come as a boost for Moyes.

West Ham: Fans react to Jesse Lingard update

Many West Ham United fans have been reacting on Twitter, after transfer insider Dean Jones suggested to The Football Terrace that Jesse Lingard is likely to join from Manchester United next week, [via The Express].

Of course, the England international was influential for the Hammers in a loan spell in 2020/21, registering 14 goal contributions in 19 appearances; nine goals and five assists [Transfermarkt].

Now, he could well be on his way back to the London Stadium as Jones told The Football Terrace (via The Express) that a move is ‘likely’ before the deadline next week.

West Ham and the Red Devils are believed to have aligned somewhat in terms of their valuation of Lingard, with the 28-year-old looking set to move to the Irons before the closure of the window according to Jones.

In light of this news, no wonder loads of West Ham United diehards took to social media to comment on the latest developments.

Eu estava inteiro na bola, ele tocou no meu pé e ainda me empurrou. Isso acabou me desequilibrando, eu caí e ele fez o gol sozinho.

Hyderabad edge past Bengal in thriller

Hyderabad Heroes held their nerve in a close contest to give themselves a shot at defending their title

Hyderabad Heroes held their nerve in a close contest to give themselves a shot at defending their title. The semi-final jinx continued for Royal Bengal Tigers – this is their third defeat at the semi-final stage – and Hyderabad have now set up a best-of-three finale against the same team they beat last time, Lahore Badshahs. As in their nine-wicket win over Bengal on Saturday, Hyderabad captain Chris Harris chose to field. The match seemed to be heading the same way as well, with Bengal slumping to 10 for 3 in 4.1 overs. But, unlike Saturday, Bengal made a splendid recovery with the help of two left-handers, Lance Klusener and Rohan Gavaskar.Klusener had not been at his explosive best during the tournament, at times tied down by the pressure of quick wickets. The situation was similar, but today both Rohan Gavaskar and he ensured they didn’t lose their wicket after settling down. Gavaskar was the one picking the odd boundary before Klusener took ten runs in two balls off Inder Shekhar Reddy’s first over.Nicky Boje and Reddy had choked Bengal on Saturday, and Gavaskar and Klusener seemed intent on not letting them take control. Both were hit for sixes over midwicket, and Harris was forced to bring himself and Stuart Binny into the attack. Harris went for four in his first over, but the next three fetched 33 as Bengal started to gain momentum.Gavaskar took 13 off the 16th over from Alfred Absolem, celebrating his half-century with a six over long-on. Klusener, who had reached his fifty by then, took apart fellow South African Boje, with a four and six through midwicket and a lofted shot for four over extra cover. Gavaskar fell off the penultimate ball of the innings for 74, and Klusener set up a target of 162 with a final-ball six off Harris.Wicketkeeper Ibrahim Khaleel, who was promoted to open the batting in place of Jimmy Maher in the last game, was retained as Maher’s partner for this match. He set the chase in motion with a six over long-off off Andre Adams, and helped the next ball to the fine-leg boundary. Maher then hit consecutive fours off Lance Klusener, and Hyderabad were coasting at 38 for 0 after four overs. Klusener, though, removed them both in his next over. The run-rate seemed to be creeping up with two new batsmen in, but the pressure was released when Gavaskar came on to bowl in the tenth over, off which 17 were scored. Ambati Rayudu was then stumped off left-arm spinner Shibsagar Singh, and Deep Dasgupta stumped Abdul Razzaq off Upul Chandana to leave Hyderabad at 92 for 4 after 12. Razzaq, demoted after a poor run at the top of the order, made 26 to follow up impressive figures of 4-0-16-1. Chandana dismissed Boje for his second scalp, but with 45 needed off 26, Binny took the chance and smashed two sixes.A six-run over from Eklak Ahmid made it 27 from 18, but after four singles, Binny once again hit boundaries off the final two balls in Klusener’s fourth over. With two wickets in his next over, including that of Man of the Match Binny, Ahmid kept his team’s hopes alive. However, with a cool head in Harris at the crease, only three balls were required for the six runs to be scored in the 20th over; Harris sealing it with a pull to midwicket.

Sam Lee drops update on Dusan Vlahovic

Manchester City have been credited with an interest in Dusan Vlahovic recently, as Pep Guardiola’s side continue their search for a Sergio Aguero replacement.

What’s the word?

It was claimed that the Citizens could consider a move for the Fiorentina forward this summer as they continue to be frustrated in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

However, the Athletic’s Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee has now dispelled any of those rumours, suggesting on Twitter that the Serbian is not a target for Guardiola’s side this summer.

Although he is obviously a world-class striker, it seems strange that City are so deadset on singing Kane this summer, especially considering Daniel Levy’s stance on his situation at the North London club, and Vlahovic could have been a superb alternative.

Would Vlahovic have been a good signing for Man City?

Fans might point to the 5-0 victory against Norwich City on Saturday afternoon and suggest that a striker maybe isn’t needed, but in reality, the Canaries were awful and if Guardiola’s side want to retain the title this season then they might just need a top-quality forward to lead the line.

Vlahovic’s performances in recent seasons suggest that he would score a lot of goals for City, whilst at 21-years-old, he has a huge amount of potential and time to adapt to the Premier League.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-manchester-city-transfer-rumours-and-news” title=”Read the latest Manchester City transfer rumours and news!”]

Last season saw the Serbian forward contribute 21 goals in 37 Seria A appearances for Fiorentina, averaging a solid 6.90 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Serie A expert Conor Clancy was full of praise for the young striker when speaking to ThisisFutbol recently, saying:

“[He’s] Incredible, and it really caught me by surprise because I’d seen him play in the flesh a few times and he scored a great goal against Inter and there was a lot of hype in Florence about him. People were saying this guy’s the real deal and I just couldn’t see it.”

“He’s just a complete number nine and I know it’s just off the back of one season, but he’s strong, can link play up, can hold the ball up and most importantly, he’s scoring goals. He’s one of those players that when he looks confident, you almost expect him to score every time he plays.”

[freshpress-quiz id=“577936”]

Therefore, it seems as if Vlahovic would have been an excellent addition to Guardiola’s squad, and Man City fans will surely be gutted with this update from Sam Lee, especially if the Citizens fail in their attempts to bring Kane to the Etihad before the window shuts.

And, in other news… Man City handed huge boost with “world-class” beast, Txiki must deliver

Siddons slams poor facilities in Bangladesh

‘Everyone is talking about the national team but I think we need to focus on the development activities’ – Siddons © AFP

Jamie Siddons, the Bangladesh coach, has blamed the poor cricketing facilities and infrastructure in the country for his team’s dismal showing in international cricket. Bangladesh’s only Test victory has been against Zimbabwe, while they have lost 25 out of 29 ODIs and eight out of nine Tests since beating South Africa in a World Cup match last year.”The players are not to be blamed at all,” Siddons told the . “The fact is that we need to give them the infrastructure first to teach them. You need the facilities. You have to have modern gymnasiums and many other things at least at all national grounds. You have to have level three qualified coaches, proper ovals for the players … and I can go on and on.”Siddons added that the impact of poor facilities was evident in the domestic competitions and as a result, many are unable to compete at the international level.”Our domestic competition is where the problem lies,” he said. “No money is being spent in infrastructure. There are no practice facilities for anyone outside the national team. We need to look at the real problems. We have to focus on where they (players) are coming from. They are not ready to play international cricket.”Everyone is talking about the national team but I think we need to focus on the development activities. For example, the facilities for the premier cricket competition here are the worst I have ever seen.”Siddons, however, backed his side to improve despite limping out in the group stages of the recent Asia Cup. He said he was particularly pleased to see his side compile 283 against India, their highest score against them. However, he urged for more consistency in the batting, especially after Pakistan raced to a ten-wicket win chasing a paltry 116 in a dead rubber in Karachi a few days after the India game.”Yes, they had one slip up in Pakistan and that was in the last game and against a good team so that can happen. But we played good cricket in Pakistan because the players amassed their highest score ever against India, so it’s a very good stat.”But I am concerned that the batsmen are not scoring consistently. They will definitely get better but they have shown improvement over the last three months, with the younger guys making centuries.”
